MINIATURE SUIT OF ARMOUR - ELIZABETHAN STYLE

A LATE VICTORIAN PERIOD miniature reproduction suit of armour in the ELIZABETHAN style. Standing 17 inches tall on a 5 inch square base . All steel construction and an excellent miniature of the real size suit with proportional measurements. Fitted to a padded wooden body. With flexible arms, legs etc and with 2 handed sword and shield. Bright polished finish. NOTE: This item was originally made in the late 19th Century. At this time there was a great fashion for armour to decorate the Victorian houses of earler styling. There was not enough real armour for this market and various craftsmen ( Notably Schmidt of Germany) produced exact, full size, reproductions of armour. The original full size versions have their own market today. It is unclear as to quite why miniatures such as offered here were made. It is thought that they were sales samples or apprentice models or simply smaller scale reproductions. Generally Grade 8++
